New Boa Pedal

We have them in our shop. They are a bit more money than the 9000's! I like the feel of the 9000's more, but the BOA is a nice pedal.

The pricing on gear nowadays just seems insane to me. I can't believe so many people have bought 9000 pedals as it is. $450 (or more) for a double is crazy.

I agree with you.

When people ask me about pedals,
I ask them about their wallets,
first and then I usually find
something lower end but good for
them, like Eliminators.

well, i agree gear is way out of wack in terms of cost from where it was say 15 years ago.
What do I think about the BOA in terms of price? My feeling would be buy a 9000. I like the BOA, but if a choice is to be made, then a 9000 would be the way to go.

So I tried one of these out. I don't get what DW are doing?

Pacific seem to be getting progressively more and more high-end. Now, are DW (my favourite drum company by the way) doing this to push up the price of their high-end stuff?

The feel is so different, I don't see it as a direct competitor as such to the DW9000 pedals (it was released under the DW stable). Regardless of wether they market it as a DW or Pacific product, isn't it going to be in the market place anyway, therefore a viable contender to any brand, even their own stablemate?

I can't comment on the business
strategy, here. I was promised a
much lower price on the Boa. In
that regard, it was very disap-
pointing.

However, I did try the pedal and
am very pleased with the concept
and results. I wrote about it in
another thread somewhere.

Randy got one and wrote about it
too. Maybe he will chime in on
how he likes it, since then.

These are nice peadals, but heel and toe playing does not work with them. If that is a part of your technique, stay with a rigid foot board.

I base this on my experience testing a BOA high hat at the local GC. My enthusiasm was dampened when heel strokes did not translate to cymbal splashes, or the open and closed HH effect, as happens with a rigid footboard.
